Cichero joining New York on loan?


gcichero.jpgAccording several reports out of Venezuela, 24 year old Venezuelan defender Gabriel Cichero is set to join New York Red Bulls on loan. As we reported earlier this season, Red Bulls manager Juan Carlos Osorio has been targeting Cichero. Cichero is said to be looking forward to joining New York and following his fellow countryman Jorge Rojas. Cichero currently plays for Venezuelan first division side Deportivo Italia and has had one year stints in Italy and Bulgaria. Check back for more updates as they come.

Red Bulls sign Jorge Rojas


610x1.jpgAccording to multiple reports out of Venezuela Jorge Rojas has agreed a deal with Red Bull New York and will be flying to New York tomorrow to finish the deal. As we reported, Rojas has been a target for Juan Carlos Osorio for some time, and looks set to join the club. The 31 year old Left sided defender/midfielder has 82 caps for the Venezuelan national team, and has most recently play with Columbian side Union Atletico Maracaibo. Osorio has been looking for an attacking midfielder, and may try Rojas, who has played mainly at left back recently, as an attacking midfielder. What do you think of the signing?

Diego Jimenez not coming to RBNY


diegojimenez2.jpgJuan Carlos Osorio has revealed that young Mexican defender Diego Jimenez will not be joining the New York club. Jimenez was offered a deal by RBNY but after training with the club, Osorio felt the he would not work well in his 3 man back line setup. Osorio has revealed that they club will pursue previous targets at left back.

Update: Diego Jimenez to Red Bull New York


diegojimenez1.jpgAs we reported last month, Red Bull New York have offered a contract to 22 year old Mexican defender Diego Jimenez. Red Bulls manager Juan Carlos Osorio has revealed that he is expecting a final decision from Jimenez on Friday, June 13th. Jimenez has most recently played for Mexican giant Tecos, making over 20 appearances over the past two years. Jimenez is also married to an American so he would be eligible for a green card should he decide to join the club. The young midfielder played for Mexico’s U-21 team at the Toulon Youth Tournament in France two years ago.

Red Bulls Chase Venezuelan Midfielder Jorge Rojas

New York Red Bulls Coach Juan Carlos Osorio have confirmed that the club are interested in acquiring Venezuelan midfielder Jorge Rojas. Rojas is a left side midfielder playing in Venezuela with Union Athletico Maracaibo. NYRB will reportedly need to acquire some allocation money to buy Rojas out of his current contract. More to coming in the next few days as we get closer to the close of the Major League Soccer transfer window on April 15th.
