According to several France based sources AS Monaco FC are close to making an official bid for Chivas USA and US International midfielder Sacha Kljestan. The amount of the bid is currently unknown but it is thought to be in the range of $2-4 Million. It’s still unknown whether Chivas USA would consider selling the 22 year old who is a key component of their midfield. If Kljestan were to make a move to Monaco, it would see him join fellow US Men’s National Team teammate Freddy Adu who was recently loaned from Benfica. Aside from the great weather and the lack of personal income tax, would this be a good move for Sacha? What do you think?

Benfica announced Monday that 19 year old American attacking midfielder Freddy Adu has been loaned out for the upcoming season to French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. Adu made 11 appearances for Benfica in his first season with the club, scoring 2 goals, and was told by new manager Quiqui Flores that he was not in his first team plans. The move should see Freddy play in what is considered to be a higher quality league, and has a good chance of competing for a starting role. Adu moved to Benfica last season for $2 Million and has earned 8 caps for the United States National Team to date. What do you think of the move? Good for Freddy?
According to multiple sources out of Portugal, Benfica is considering loaning 18 year old American starlet Freddy Adu, in order to gain sustained first team experience. Adu has made 11 appearances for the Benfica first team scoring 3 goals. Adu has 5 caps for the US National Team at age 18, and moved to Benfica after impressing at the 2007 Fifa U-20 World Cup, in July of 2007 from Real Salt Lake. Adu has found it hard to break into the first team, after Benfica brought in 3 different coaches during the 2008 campaign. Where would you like to see Freddy go if he’s loaned out? Holland? Smaller Portugal based club? Belgium? maybe a smaller English side? Somewhere else?
