The New York Red Bulls have completed the signing of 22 year old Mexican defender diego Jimenez. Jimenez has been a target of Juan Carlos Osorio’s for some time and has finally put pen to paper. Jimenez has most recently played for Mexican club Tecos, and has played for the Mexican U-21 national team. Jimenez is also married to an American and holds a green card, meaning he shouldn’t occupy one of the club’s international player spots. What do you think of the signing? Juan Carlos Osorio has revealed that young Mexican defender Diego Jimenez will not be joining the New York club. Jimenez was offered a deal by RBNY but after training with the club, Osorio felt the he would not work well in his 3 man back line setup. Osorio has revealed that they club will pursue previous targets at left back.

Jimenez has most recently played for Mexican giant Tecos, making over 20 appearances over the past two years. Jimenez is also married to an American so he would be eligible for a green card should he decide to join the club. The young midfielder played for Mexico’s U-21 team at the Toulon Youth Tournament in France two years ago.
