Hunter Freeman to Toronto

According to SBI, our very own Hunter Freeman has been traded to Toronto FC in exchange for two supplemental draft picks and future considerations. Freeman has fallen out of favor with head coach Juan Carlos Osorio after signing a pre-contract with Norwegian side IK Start. Freeman’s MLS contract expires December 31st, and should provide Toronto FC with some needed depth for the rest of the season. What do you make of the Freeman trade? Good for TFC? Good for New York? Will this give Juan Carlos Osorio the needed salary cap and roster space to go out and get the forward New York needs?

Carlos Ruiz traded to Toronto FC

SBI is reporting that the LA Galaxy have dealt forward Carlos Ruiz to Toronto FC, the details should be coming to light soon. Toronto FC have had a busy day on the player movement front, releasing midfielder Laurent Robert earlier in the day. Ruiz has had a tough season after sustaining a knee injury early in the season which has seen him earn limited playing time with LA. Toronto FC will get the goal scorer they’ve been looking for the past few months, and LA can now afford to sign Eddie Lewis. What do you think of the move?

Maurice Edu to Glasgow Rangers?

According to Steve Goff, and one other Scotland-based source, Toronto FC Defensive Midfielder Maurice Edu is close to securing a transfer to Glasgow Rangers, for a transfer fee thought to be in the region of $5 Million. Edu recently returned after a disappointing Olympic campaign with the US. Edu was last years MLS Rookie of the year, and has earned 6 caps for the United States National Team. The 22 year old midfielder was the first overall pick of the 2007 MLS Superdraft. The move would seem Maurice join fellow United States Men’s National Team teammate Demarcus Beasley at Glasgow Rangers. Edu would require a work permit should he make the move, which could be the final hurdle holding back the transfer. What do you think? Good move for Maurice? Rangers? Toronto FC?
