26 year old American defender Cat Whitehill has been ruled out of this summer’s olympics in Beijing, after suffering a torn knee ligament. Whitehill has earned 123 caps for the Womens National team, and was part of the team that won the 2004 Gold medal in Athens. Whitehill was considered a vital piece of the US back line and will surely be missed.
