According to several sources out of Guatemala, the San Jose Earthquakes are close to securing the signature of 33 year old Costa Rican forward Roland Fonseca. Fonseca has been capped 107(scoring 47 times), and is currently with Guatemalan side Comunicaciones(netting 8 goals in 16 appearances. What do you SJ fans think? Fonseca is older, but obviously still capable of finding the net.

It seems like one of those 50/50 pick-ups. He is on the old side, so he could either be a solid contributor or be worthless like Wanchope. What I do like is that unlike every other forward on our roster, he would have a proven pedigree.

Update: Looks like Fonseca has been practicing with the Quakes since Tuesday. Will he be just another in a long line of trialists who have come and go, or will he stick and become the newest Quake?
